Not sure about the whole tinned fish thing? These delicately flavored, flaky trout filets are an ideal entry point. Tender and not too fishy, trout is a mainstay of Portuguese cuisine, which is where ABC+ calls home. This small-batch cannery sustainably sources their freshwater river trout from the Rio Coura in northern Portugal, then packs the skin-on filets with buttery olive oil and a touch of lemon for a little freshness and acidity. Each can comes with a slice of lemon nestled atop the fish, a thoughtful touch that makes for a surprisingly elegant presentation. Just open the can, tear into a crusty loaf of bread and pop open a bottle of very cold white wine—a Portuguese vinho verde, perhaps—and you’re on your way to a great meal.
