Bibol SOAI Salad Serving Bowl
This large serving bowl has a curving, asymmetrical shape like a mango that accentuates the naturalistic appeal of the lacquered bamboo. Use it for serving salad or bread at the table, or keep it on your counter as a fruit bowl; one end of the bowl protrudes slightly, effectively functioning like a lip for easy pouring for batches of soup or sangria. Each handcrafted piece is finished with a food-safe varnish that makes it easy to clean and protects the porous bamboo from staining or absorbing off-flavors. The SOAI bowl is available in either a natural, unpainted version that shows off the bamboo grain or in a vibrant red hue that puts us in mind of ripe fruit. Bibol's founder, Little Moon, immigrated to France in the 1970s from her native Vietnam, where she had worked as a child laborer from the age of 8. Her company is committed to paying Vietnamese artisans fair wages for their handcrafted products, as well as providing them healthcare and sending their children to school.
