Awasaka Striped Rice Bowls – Set of 2

Regular price $55.95

This set of rice bowls was crafted by artisan potters in Gifu, a mountainous prefecture considered the top ceramic-producing region in Japan. Their design is a nod to the traditional Tokusa technique, a centuries-old blue-and-white lined pattern that mimics “ten grass,” or specific reeds of grass that grow throughout Japan. The eye-catching pieces act as the perfect bowls for rice, noodles or sides. And each bowl—which features striped, rich red and black glazes and flowing, asymmetrical rims—is one of a kind due to its handmade nature. The set is shipped in a charming wooden box with the mark of its maker.

We like to use it for sides like rice, soup or salad. When transferring from kitchen to table, you’ll feel the bowls’ subtle grooves that connect them back to small potters honing their craft in lush mountain villages. Sold in a set of two.
