Gestura Silver Spoon

Regular price $38.00

We found the only spoon you’ll ever need in the kitchen: the Japanese-designed Gestura Silver Spoon. Doubling as both a mixing and serving utensil, the spoon has a wide tablespoon-sized well to hold liquids, a long, comfortable handle for stirring and a fine point for precise, controlled pouring or saucing. That means you won’t need three different tools taking up space on the countertop (or crowding your dishwasher later). The spoon is also designed with a flared lip, which 1) prevents the tablespoon of liquid ingredients from spilling over and 2) helps scrape the corners of pots and pans (deglazing and scraping up fond is easy) or storage containers. We use this spoon for virtually anything, from measuring, mixing and basting to pouring, plating and serving. Your fingers will be at a safe distance when stirring hot soups, sauces and braises. The tumbled, unpolished look is inspired by tarnished steel utensils you’d find at vintage markets. Each spoon is stamped and etched, before it’s finished by hand on a lathe at Mr. Okada’s workshop in Niigata, Japan.

Net Weight: 1.8 ounces
Materials: 18/10 Japanese Stainless Steel
Dimensions: 9 inches
Volume: 1 tablespoon
Place of Origin: Niigata, Japan

How to Use: The prebuilt tablespoon measurement means no guesswork when cooking—and you won’t need to rummage for measuring spoons either. The spoon can measure out any liquid ingredient—think olive oil, vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire, the like. After measuring out ingredients, you can use the spoon to stir, mix, scrape and more. The spoon’s tip is tapered to a fine point for precise finishing and basting, which is a plus when plating meals. In testing, we found that filling half of the spoon is roughly a half tablespoon and a third is roughly a teaspoon; while it’s not exact, this works for building quick dressings and sauces that don’t adhere to strict measurements.

Care: Dishwasher-safe, but hand-washing is recommended.
