Harissa is originally from Tunisia and is a very spicy chili paste, although other ingredients are often added as well. We love this particular harissa because it packs a punch but also has a nice sweetness to it that offers good balance along with noticeable notes of cumin and caraway. It’s complex but doesn’t back down from the heat, the essence of a good harissa. Background flavors include coriander, preserved lemon, mint, tomato paste and a mild acidity.
