We partnered with Henckels International, the German cutlery powerhouse with 280 years of experience, to create our nakiri.

Classic Blade Design:

Our modernized adaptation of the nakiri, an all-purpose Japanese vegetable cleaver, mates a traditionally tall, rectangular blade with a subtly curved tip to accommodate all-purpose cutting tasks and a curved blade butt for a comfortable, confidence-inspiring pinch grip.

Fine-Tuned Blade Height:

At 49mm tall, the knife is about half the height of a Chinese cleaver, but still effectively shields your fingers during use and functions as a bench scraper to transfer chopped items to the mixing bowl or saucepan.

Ultra-Thin Blade:

At just 2mm thick at the spine, the ultra-thin blade make precision knife work easy and require less force to cut (there’s little chance of the “wedging” of broader, thicker knives.)

Bolsterless Blade Design:

Without a thick bolster at the transition between handle and blade, the knife is both featherweight and easy to sharpen.

Indestructible Handle:

Mid-sized, polymer handles are comfortable and adaptable across many hand sizes and cutting styles. Triple rivets keep the handles firmly attached for a lifetime of use.

This was my first venture beyond the standard chef's knife. I was a little nervous but found that it really is very nice for it's intended purpose. I do like the "height" of the blade which does make me feel a little "safer" because of how easy it is to make a better "fingertips curled under" claw. My preparation work has evolved over time where I really am doing a lot more with vegetables. While I was skeptical at first I can now say that this is my preferred tool for that task.
