The secret to longevity?
Considered one of Greece’s most popular herbal teas, sage tea is believed to provide healing properties that many Crete locals attribute to their long lives.
Made from the same robust variety found across the Aegean Islands, Daphnis and Chloe’s Greek Sage is grown and handpicked at an organic farm in Crete. More intense and fragrant than common European sage, this variety of sage is sweet and citrusy with a slight bitterness and herbal warmth. Besides its incredible scent, we love the slightly fuzzy texture of these semi-dried leaves—similar to the herb’s fresh texture—which added a great crunch when sizzled or fried in brown butter. Use whole, chopped up or ground to add earthy, fresh flavor to poultry, butters, spice rubs, pastas, sauces, stews and more.

We test everything we sell. Here’s how we’d use this.
Use in any recipe that calls for sage. But because of their potent, well-preserved flavor, you may need less than when using dried herbs from the grocery store. Add to taste.
Some of the finest Mediterranean herbs can be found in Greece, growing in wild undisturbed microclimates and, over the years, developing flavor profiles and aromas unique to that country. They are a well-kept secret by the locals, and most of the herbs have been inaccessible to cooks outside Greece — until now. Daphnis and Chloe, an Athens-based culinary herb company, partners with local foragers and farmers to harvest limited-production herbs and distribute them internationally, and we at Milk Street are bringing them to you.
