The last commercially operated water powered mill left in Virginia
Built in the 1790s, Woodson’s Mill, the Deep Roots command center, is one of the few country mills still in operation to this day, as many others couldn’t compete with commercialization and were left abandoned. Impressively, Deep Roots has not only kept this historic mill alive, but they use renewable energy in the form of water power to stone grind all of their grains like generations of millers.
