Lyle's Golden Syrup $9.45

World record holder!

The decorative tin that houses this syrup was originally produced by Abram Lyle & Sons in 1883. The packaging has remained unchanged since it’s debut, aside from a brief departure during World War I, where all available metal had to go to support England’s war effort. Despite the hiatus, in 2007 the Guinness Book of World Records confirmed the classic Lyle’s Golden Syrup tin as the world’s oldest unchanged brand packaging.

Not sure how you’d use it?

We test everything we sell. Here’s how we’d use this.

HOW TO USE

Use as a sweetener, like a simple syrup or agave, in smoothies, drinks and cocktails. Try in baked goods, such as pecan pie, in place of corn syrup (unless the corn syrup is to prevent crystallization). Drizzle over pancakes, waffles and french toast or over a scoop of ice cream, or add a teaspoon to savory stews and soups.

Kitchen Notes

Store in a cool, dry place.
