Okazu Japanese Miso Chili Oil $17.95

When Okazu founders Jess Mantell and Fumi Tsukamoto moved from Japan to Toronto, they found themselves missing the country’s rich restaurant culture—so they created this miso chili oil to accompany their onigiri rice balls.

They began selling it at farmers markets around the area. And while there are many Japanese chili oil condiments on the market these days, this one is incredibly unique with the addition of umami-rich miso.

We test everything we sell. Here’s how we’d use this.


We use this chili oil to top rice bowls, meats, eggs, pizza and more. Try it drizzled on our Udon Noodles with Shiitake Mushrooms and Spinach or using it to replace the plain miso stirred into our Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Kale-Miso Salad. It’s also a wonderful way to build bold flavor in dressings (simply use this as the oil) and marinades spiked with citrus or vinegar.
