This shawarma spice rub is based on a Syrian family recipe and hand-blended in small batches to enhance the rich aromas of the spices.

HOW TO USE

Grilled meat is an obvious perfect pairing for this spice blend, or broiled skewers— a bit of a roasty caramelized char works well with these flavors. It’s lovely as a seasoning for roasted or sauteed veggies—cauliflower, potatoes or other tubers, onions, summer squash and the like. Or, add to dressings for bean salads or make a spiced dip from yogurt—adding in fresh herbs like mint, cilantro, parsley and dill. We love adding 1 1/2 tablespoons for the dry spice in our Kidney Bean Salad with Spiced Vinaigrette and Herbs, 1 tablespoon to our Beef and White Bean Stew with Tomatoes and Dill or incorporate into our Israeli Hummus.
