Named for the dimpled indent at the bottom of your wine bottle, Colorado-based company Wine Punts makes these unique measuring cups out of recycled wine bottles, with a dedication to sustainable living. They partner with local restaurants and hotels to save tens of thousands of glass bottles per year from crowding our landfills. Artisans saw off the neck of the bottles then fire-polish and individually inspect every Wine Punts piece to ensure a seamless, smooth rim without any chipped or sharp edges. Each Wine Punts product has its own personality, from slight variations in diameter and hue to the patterned ridges on the bottom. Made with sturdy non-porous glass, these beaker-like measuring cups hold a 2-cup capacity and show cup and ounce equivalents and are great for cocktails, baking and more. The spout makes for mess-free pouring, while its high sides prevent microwave splattering when melting butter or heating sauces. Plus, the glass is well insulated and still comfortable to hold when filled with hot water.
We test everything we sell. Here’s how we’d use this.
Dishwasher safe and microwave safe, but while these are very heat-resistant, as with all glass tools it is best to avoid rapid changes in temperature, which can cause glass to shatter.
What began as a college project in 2006 has since blossomed into Wine Punts, a Colorado-based company that repurposes recycled wine bottles into unique glassware and kitchen accessories. The business was founded with a mission to keep these bottles out of landfills and continuing to improve the enviroment through responsible recycling.
