Ankarsrum Assistent Original Stand Mixer — Matte Finish
Please allow up to two weeks for orders to process and ship from vendor
Stand mixers are one of the most versatile tools in the kitchen, yet most are clunky, inefficient and can’t handle larger portions of dough without rocking on the counter or speeding down substantially. But thanks to a bit of Swedish ingenuity, Ankarsrum has come up with a one-of-a-kind design that maximizes capability and stands up to hefty quantities of dough. Normal mixers have a bowl that doesn’t move and beaters that do move. The Ankarsrum has a stainless steel bowl that spins, while the blade, beaters and other attachments stay in place. No more stopping and starting your mixer to scrape the sides of the bowl your beater can’t reach. The spinning bowl results in more mixing power without overexerting the quiet, spiral gear shaft motor. That’s why it can easily accommodate heavier doughs (up to 11 pounds) and even has motor feedback to help regulate speed on its own.
Not making dough? Simply swap the stainless bowl for the included BPA-free 4-quart beater bowl (does not spin, comes with attached drive shaft) to mix, whisk and combine batters, cream butter and sugar, whip cream and frosting and more.
The Ankarsrum’s unique design offers a stable, low weight distribution, tremendous torque, infinitely variable speed and a timer for automatic shutoff. Plus, because there’s nothing blocking the top of the bowl, adding in ingredients while the mixer is on has never been easier. Even better? This mixer is several pounds lighter than your run-of-the-mill stand mixer and more low profile, making it easier to take in and out of storage for use. The entire set comes complete with the mixer motor base, a 7.4-quart stainless steel bowl, a 4-quart BPA-free whipping bowl, a dough roller, dough scraper, dough hook, proofing lid, spatula, double beater/whisks and cake beater whisks, as well as a starter guide and recipe book. Available in a variety of colors with a matte finish.

Brod & Taylor Sourdough Home
Temperature is a key component to maintaining a healthy sourdough starter, affecting both the flavor and overall structure of your loaves. However, it’s easier said than done to stay on top of daily changes: A fluctuating room temperature or too cold fridge often forces bakers to adjust ratios and frequencies when feeding to keep their starter alive. Enter Brod and Taylor’s Sourdough Home, the compact storage system designed with adjustable heating and cooling so you can keep your starter at the perfect temperature. Featuring degree by degree set points from 41–122 degrees Fahrenheit, the Sourdough home can fit a single quart jar or two smaller jars seamlessly. Simply set your temperature and feed your starter on your own schedule. More advanced bakers can even adjust the temperature when desired to play around with flavor profile, aroma and texture.
Vermicular Musui-Kamado
The Musui-Kamado induction cooker is downright revolutionary—unlike anything we’ve seen before. It consists of a Musui cast-iron Dutch oven-style pot that is inserted into the Kamado, which is a precise induction heater that cooks from the bottom and sides. Even without the Kamado, the Musui is exceptional. Its name means “waterless” because the lid fits so tightly that little to no liquid is required, so food cooks in its own juices and concentrates flavor for restaurant-quality meals with very little effort. And it’s about half the weight of other enameled cast-iron Dutch ovens.
But when you insert it into the Kamado, that’s what’s really impressive. It was designed to mimic the enveloping heat of a traditional Japanese wood-burning stove, heating on all sides up to 445℉. The Musui-Kamado’s precise temperature controls means you can roast meat or make yogurt, sous vide or ferment. But it’s at its best for methods we use at Milk Street all the time, including braising with little to no added water, searing then steaming vegetables, and low-temperature roasting.
Ridges on the base of the Musui create space between the heat source and ingredients to help prevent the bottom from burning, and the tight-fitting lid was designed to be lighter at the front so it gently floats to vent pressure instead of boiling over. Both the lid and pot are equipped with ergonomic handles for a secure, comfortable grip when transferring the pot from stove to oven or from kitchen to table.
A user-friendly LED touch panel helps you click the right temperature for whatever you’re making, including in 1-degree increments between 90℉ and 200℉ for proofing, fermenting or making yogurt. Available in charcoal, sea salt and matte black.
Brod & Taylor Folding Bread Proofer
This nifty box creates a perfect proofing environment every time—and we all know consistency is key when it comes to getting a good rise on your loaf. It keeps an optimal 60-80% humidity level thanks to the included water plate and allows you to set a perfect proofing temperature (we recommend 85 degrees Fahrenheit) through the heated base plate—plus the structure keeps out any drafts or other environmental factors that would cause change. The proofer is large enough to accommodate several hand-shaped loaves, though when you’re finished using it, it folds completely flat for stress-free storage. And the additional accessory shelf creates even more room inside if you need it. We found that wheat loaves (which can be fickle) rose quicker and more consistently in the proofer, and it also worked wonders to revive a dormant sourdough starter.
Everdure by Heston Blumenthal Cube Grill
We’re the first to admit that most small grills don’t work. It’s hard to get the charcoal started, it’s hard to control the heat and it’s hard to manuever them because of so much heat in such a small area. This little charcoal grill is the exception to the rule. Not only is it easily portable, as it’s made from lightweight and durable steel, but its unique square shape allows you to distribute charcoal evenly and also have the optimum grilling surface area to squeeze in more steaks than a typical small grill. It’s made with a high-temperature finish with chrome handles, which stay cool to the touch even when the grill is in use. And the design of the firebox allows for enough airflow to start the charcoal, but the chimney-like shape protects it from wind as it lights. The grill grates are perfectly positioned, too—we were able to brown steaks quite nicely without burning them. Plus, the grill also has an integrated storage compartment for extra charcoal or grilling tools as well as a built in bamboo wood tray for serving or to use as a cutting board.
Beast Blender + Hydration System
A Christopher Kimball favorite, Beast’s Blender + Hydration System is truly a best-in-class personal blender set. Designed to flawlessly combine both fresh and frozen ingredients, the blender can whip up a smoothie, sauce or salsa in little time and with little noise. Unlike other blenders that stall when there’s too much frozen fruit, Beast’s can handle anything, even plain ice, without getting stuck until thoroughly blended. It also handles dry ingredients expertly, thanks to a pulse feature—something other handheld blenders usually don’t offer. The set also comes with a hydration cup and infuser, along with two sizes of leak-resistant cups and a selection of screw-on lids for taking your beverage with you. Use the blender to pulse fruit or herbs, like lemon and mint, then add to the infuser with water to the hydration cup for fresh infused water.
Yakiniku Shichirin Rectangular Grill
This Yakiniku Shichirin Japanese-style grill brings communal cooking to your backyard from the first course to the last. Please only use these grills outside and never inside. Traditionally, all Japanese homes were equipped with an irori, a hearth dug into the floor that families gathered around to grill meat and vegetables. As Japanese cities grew, more people moved into apartments, and grilling was not possible. To fill that gap, some restaurants specialized in yakitori (grilled chicken), yakiton (grilled pork), or thinly sliced beef and fish to give neighborhoods access to the social act of cooking and eating around a grill with family and friends. The ceramic grill brings that concept directly to you.
It comes with a removable metal grate and frame, stainless steel yakitori bars, a bamboo plank to protect your table from heat and thin meat needles that won’t shred delicate meats, plus binchotan charcoal. Enjoy classic Japanese barbecue and yakitori, or use to get your group grilling burgers or roasting marshmallows all together. Please note: THIS GRILL IS FOR OUTDOOR USE ONLY
Ooni Koda 12 Gas-Powered Outdoor Pizza Oven
The Ooni Koda 12 is an amazing gas-powered pizza oven that reaches temperatures over 900 degrees Fahrenheit and cooks a pizza in just minutes, producing a professional chewy, bubbly crust. Using this pizza oven’s gas burner will be a snap for most home cooks, as it operates similarly to a stovetop burner. A knob on the side of the oven allows you to finely adjust the flame to your preference, allowing far more control over cooking temperature than with wood-burning ovens. The Koda 12's innovative L-shaped burner heats quickly from multiple directions; once turned on, the oven is ready to cook in 20 minutes. The burner design also helps maintain the ripping-hot temperatures (up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit) necessary for making pizza, while the stone baking board absorbs and retains heat well, crisping the bottom crust as the oven’s ambient heat cooks the pizza from above. To top it all off, setup and clean-up are a breeze with the lightweight Koda 12, which is easy to wipe clean and has foldable legs for easier storage.
Ñuke Delta Argentinian Style Grill
Handcrafted by artisans in Argentina, this grill in inspired by the gauchos (cowboys) of the Argentinian pampas. It burns both logs and charcoal in its brazier-style fire box and the wide grill bed allows you to move around your heat source of choice to direct heat to different areas of the grill—so you can use high heat or go low and slow. The grill is also lined with refractory bricks that aid in heat retention and guide the heat toward the extra wide 547-inch grill grate, which is adjustable to accommodate different cooking temperatures. The Delta includes a rugged stand with swivel casters and attached steel lid, a full-length vinyl cover, a drawer below the brick-lined base which can be used for accessories or as a warming drawer and an additional steel griddle that nests on top of the fire basket for an extra 188 square inches of cooking space.

Ooni Fyra Portable Wood-fired Outdoor Pizza Oven
The first time I saw this oven at Milk Street and the price I was, to say the least, skeptical. But when our product tester tried it out at home, she came back with a rave review. (And she wanted to keep it too!) Heated with wood pellets, it reaches over 900 degrees Fahrenheit in just 10 minutes and can cook a pizza in just 60 seconds, about as long as it takes at Michael’s in Naples. (I know since I actually timed it during a visit there a few years ago.) Made from stainless steel, it sits on three sturdy legs and is easy to set up and move around. It can take a stone baking board that is roughly 13 inches square which is plenty for homemade pizza. You can also use it to cook flatbreads, meat, vegetables or anything you want to cook quickly using high heat. This contraption may look crazy, but we loved it!
Breville Immersion Blender
An immersion blender is like an extra hand in the kitchen, but some are clunkier and less effective than others in practice—yielding poorly blended soups, sauces and fatigued arms. But while testing several models in search of one worthy enough to take up space in the kitchen, we came across Breville’s rendition, which worked flawlessly for a faster, more powerful blending experience than its competitors. Weighing in at under four pounds, this ergonomic, handheld tool comes equipped with a bell-shaped non-scratch base and stainless steel blade designed to reduce suction and achieve a more thorough blend without spattering. Featuring 15 speed settings, a 6-foot power cord, an anti-slip mat, a 3-cup chopper bowl, a 5-cup mixing jug and a whisk attachment, the Breville Immersion Blender tackles soups, sauces, salad dressings, smoothies, purees and more with ease. Whether you’re adding it straight into your pot or a separate bowl, this efficient tool will stay consistent and speed up your work—and when you’re done, just give it a rinse in the sink.
Pars 5-Cup Persian Rice Cooker
We’ll be the first to admit that tahdig, the traditional Persian rice dish with a crispy top, can be intimidating to make at home. The combination of fluffy rice in the middle and a crunchy top layer is challenging to achieve and requires a treacherous pot flip. So we were thrilled to try out the Pars Rice Cooker, designed specifically to take the complexity out of crispy rice dishes like tahdig. Featuring a customizable timer, measuring lines for better precision, a nonstick pot and an easy to follow manual, this appliance takes all of the guesswork out of rice-cooking. Just add your rice, water and spices, then let the Pars do the rest. Plus, it’s easy to clean and stores away compactly when not in use.
Fiero Casa Blue Steel Half Pan
Lightweight and tolerant to high heat, Fiero Casa’s Blue Steel Half Pan is the perfect vessel for crispy-bottomed pizzas, well-roasted vegetables, crunchy oven-fried chicken and more. Made in Italy, the pan’s thinner metal, blue steel, is designed to be uniquely more heat-tolerant than other steels or aluminum, making it a better material for high-temperature cooking. It is also still from the same family as cast iron, so it heats up quickly and conducts heat well, while avoiding warping—even in high temperatures. Weighing in at only two pounds, it’s far lighter than anything cast iron and can be heated up to 610 degrees Fahrenheit. Kept clean and well seasoned, it will be naturally nonstick, making it the ideal go-to pan for unwaveringly consistent results when you’re baking. We love it especially for pan pizza and focaccia—it’ll turn out a flawless crunchy crust every time.
Proud Grill UltraVersatile Grill Basket
Our trick to seamless grilling? Grill baskets. Perfect for grilling delicate foods without damage from sticking or falling through the grate, we put ten grill baskets to the test to find the cream of the crop. Proud Grill’s UltraVersatile Grill Basket beat out the competition thanks to higher perforated walls and dividers, plus a removable, stay-cool handle. The durable yet lightweight stainless steel heats up quickly, and thanks to a large fire-facing surface area, food can spread out and grill instead of steam, which is the case with some other grill baskets. Plus, higher sides keep food in the basket when flipping—no fallen ingredients in sight.
Unlike most grill baskets, the Proud Grill has a detachable handle that remains cool throughout use, offering excellent maneuverability while remaining safe. And it can be attached to all four sides of the basket. Removable dividers are also an added bonus feature, allowing you to divide the basket into up to five sections to grill more than one item at once. Compatible when placed both vertically or horizontally on most grills, even smokers, use it for vegetables, fish, shrimp, wings or any other ingredient that might fall through the grates on a standard grill.
