Suncraft Mandoline

Regular price $115.00

Most mandolines are an ER visit waiting to happen—until the Suncraft Mandoline. Fully adjustable, effortless to use and above all, safe, it was specifically designed to be the mandoline for people who fear them. It all starts with the blades, which are forged from the same Japanese steel that Suncraft uses for their knives. You get three blades: one flat for all-purpose slicing and two julienne options. All of them are angled to minimize drag and surface tension, which helps you glide smoothly through every slice; no getting stuck halfway or stuttering motions here. Its oversized, easy-to-grab hand guard really helps: Not only does it keep your fingers well away from the blades, it securely locks onto tough, slippery foods like potatoes and squash, as well as delicate cucumbers and onions. (Plus, that extra-large design helps accommodate big ingredients—and adds another layer of fingertip protection.) Whether you’re slicing over a cutting board or straight into a bowl, the mandoline’s grippy feet and solid metal legs offer a stable, “locked-in” feel.

While other “adjustable” mandolines force you to twiddle a tiny knob and hope for the best result, this mandoline offers an entirely adjustable slicing experience. Turning the clearly marked adjustment dial takes you from a see-through 0.4-millimeter slice to a hefty 6-millimeter slab—or anywhere in between—in seconds. With three blades and 15 different thickness settings, you can dial in each slice to meet your exact specifications. We are the first U.S. retailer to offer this tool; right now, you’ll only find it at Milk Street.

Scared of Mandolines? Use This One

When we set out to help design a mandoline with Japanese maker Suncraft, we had one goal in mind: Make the best of the best. Two years in the making and specifically designed to be Goldilocks-perfect, this adjustable mandoline is sharp and speedy like a simple Japanese-style Benriner, with the versatility (and all-important finger guard) of foldable French designs. If you’ve been “burned” by lesser mandolines before, let the Suncraft change your mind. Take it from Matt Card, our Creative Director for Recipes and Products: “I’ve used most every brand of mandoline on the market and nothing compares to this.”
