Hernán Mexico Chocolate Skulls
Made from stone-ground, organic cocoa beans harvested in Chiapas, Mexico, Hernán Mexico’s Chocolate Skulls are wonderfully rich in both flavor and culture. Besides providing deeply flavored real hot chocolate when melted into hot milk, the skull shape and vibrant colored packaging of this set pays tribute to important symbols of “Día de los Muertos,” the Mexican holiday that celebrates the afterlife. These decadent skulls make hot chocolate that is full of traditional cinnamon and not too sweet, unlike overly sugary American versions. They’re also great on their own as candies, and we love them as gifts. The hand-woven palm leaf packaging can be reused as little baskets.
Hernan Jarrito Ceramic Mug
Handcrafted from red clay by artisans in Mexico, Hernán Mexico’s Jarrito Ceramic Mugs are the perfect vessel for both hot and cold drinks. Translating to “mini jugs,” these jarritos were traditionally used for drinking water, but are now used to sip on anything from hot chocolate and coffee to a chilled margarita. Sold individually, the glazed dark brown clay will look beautiful on your table while also regulating the temperature of your drink. We especially love using these jarritos to enjoy hot chocolate made from Hernán’s Chocolate Skulls.
Hernán Mexico Ceramic Olla de Barro Jug
Hand-molded and painted in Mexico using ancient techniques and modern design elements, Hernán Mexico’s Ceramic Olla de Barro Jug is a beautiful, functional vessel for hot drinks or soups. Safe to use over a direct flame or electric range, this red clay jug is perfect for making steaming hot chocolate, similar to how it is traditionally made in Mexico. Put it directly over a medium flame to heat water slowly as the chocolate melts inside. With a capacity of four cups, this pitcher can be used to heat any kind of liquid, from coffee to soup; then use the handles and pour spout to serve. We especially love it to enjoy hot chocolate made from Hernán’s Chocolate Skulls.
