Pomelo Casa | Medium Bowl – Yellow

Color

Handcrafted in Granada, Spain, using techniques dating back more than five centuries, Pomelo Casa’s terracotta ceramics are one-of-a-kind works of functional art. These bowls are an example of traditional fajalauza pottery, which features hand-painted motifs of birds, flowers and fruit—specifically pomegranates, which are culturally and historically significant to Granada. Use the bowl for light meals, snacks, fruit, sides and individual portions of salad or pasta. The glazed terracotta is both dishwasher- and microwave-safe; the unglazed base also allows the ceramic to breathe and retain heat naturally so your food stays warm (or cool, depending on serving temperature). And like all of Pomelo Casa’s offerings, no two bowls are the same due to small variations in the glaze and brushwork. Available in three colors: Yellow, Blue, and Lilac.

Materials: Terracotta Clay with Hand-Painted Glaze
Dimensions: 3.75 inches tall and8 inches in diameter
Place of Origin: Granada, Spain

Hand-wash your ceramics in warm soapy water and air-dry before using them for the first time. Although Pomelo Casa’s pieces are dishwasher-safe, occasional hand-washing will help preserve the glaze over time. Microwave-safe. Do not use in the oven.

From Granada with Love

Interior designer Francesca de la Fuente grew up in southern Spain in a house filled with her mother’s collection of hand-painted fajalauza ceramics. Incorporating the bright colors and one-of-a-kind pieces into her design work turned out to be harder than she thought; only five workshops in Granada still make them. Eventually, she managed to track down a family-run producer—the same one who made her mom’s ceramics, as it turns out—and Pomelo Casa was born.
