These cotton-polyester placemats from Madrid-based Atenas Home are treated with two flexible layers of acrylic resin, which forms an invisible, protective layer around each fiber. The result? A timeless, luxe fabric that always repel liquids, grease and dirt. For daily cleaning, all they need is a quick wipe with a damp cloth; for a deeper clean, toss them in the washing machine with cold water and mild detergent. (As a bonus, Atenas’ fabrics are OEKO-TEX® certified, which means they’re free from harmful substances at all stages of production and safe for daily use by the entire family.) Designed with simple, broad stripes (in colors Blue or Brown) on a cream background, these placemats will add subtle texture to your table settings without overwhelming other décor. Wipe up fresh stains right away with a damp cloth. For greasy or oily spots, use a little bit of soapy water in addition to the damp cloth. To sanitize or disinfect the placemats, spray or wipe with a solution of water and bleach at 5% concentration, or 2 tablespoons of bleach per liter of water. Machine-washable in cool or cold water; do not use bleach or fabric softener. To reactivate the anti-stain treatment after washing, iron on the reverse (untreated) side with a low heat. Do not dry clean.
