This malty maple syrup is made from Grade A Amber Rich syrup before being aged for two and a half to three months in charred oak bourbon barrels from a small craft distillery in Chicago. Though lighter in color compared to the Grade B, the sweetness of the pure Vermont syrup is balanced beautifully by dark bourbon flavor, which comes through clearly, along with strong whiskey notes that spread across your tongue. The flavor lingers too, leaving behind a touch of leather from the oak barrel and a faint tingle from the whiskey burn.

How to use

This family farm is nestled within the foothills of the Green Mountains.

Situated near the base of Mount Mansfield, Vermont's tallest peak, Mount Mansfield Maple Products harvests maple sap from over 1,000 acres of well-cared-for trees. Its founder and owner, Chris, is a fifth-generation maple sugar maker, and in 2009, he created a website to share his family’s maple crop. (Until then, the company consisted of a plywood platform in the garage and a post office box.) Today, they make award-winning syrup, most recently winning a 2021 Good Food Award—a coveted award that recognizes the best of socially responsible specialty foods—for their organic Dark Robust (Grade B) maple syrup.

HOW TO USE

Besides being delicious poured over pancakes and waffles, the rich robust flavor of this syrup lends itself to baking like in our Maple-Whiskey Pudding Cakes or drinks such as a bourbon Old-Fashioned. It would be great poured over ice cream, or used in savory applications such as Maple and Soy-Glazed Chicken Skewers.
