Earlywood Big Tera Scraper

Although it may look like one, the Big Tera Scraper isn’t exactly a spatula—it’s much better. The simple design gently tapers from the handle down to the slanted front edge, so it has both a smooth, substantial feel in the hand and a thin, nimble edge for turning, flipping and scraping. Like most of Montana-based Earlywood’s tools, the Big Tera is crafted specifically for cast-iron use; the solid wood construction and angled edge are tough enough for thorough scraping, which helps prevent food and oil from building up on the surface and flaking off. But you can use this tool in any kind of pan, from stainless steel skillets to carbon steel woks to enameled Dutch ovens. Its broad, slanted shape is excellent for agitating stir-fries, while the narrow front edge does a great job at flipping eggs and loosening fond for braises and pan sauces. It’s also the perfect utensil for cutting into lasagna, quiches and casseroles because, unlike sharp metal tools, the wood won’t damage the finish of your baking dishes.
