Soma Hand-Forged Bar Spoon

Regular price $69.00

Christopher Kimball found this Hand-Forged Bar Spoon while traveling in Maine. Made to stir cocktails, this stainless steel spoon is loved by professional and home bartenders alike—it withstands rust and corrosion even with heavy use. A hand-forged steel spoon and fiddlehead end are joined by a “hot-twisted” stem, a blacksmithing trick that involves twirling hot metal for a decorative finish. Handcrafted by a skilled blacksmith trained in traditional metalworking, this spoon is built to last.

Materials: Stainless Steel
Dimensions: 12.5 inches
Place of Origin: Maine, USA

Hand-wash recommended.

In his forge, which runs at 1,900°F, Kiran Chapman, founder of Soma Metalwork, shape metals like steel, iron, brass and copper into home and kitchen goods. While some items start as raw materials, shaped from bars of rolled steel, Chapman also gives life to recycled metals from out-of-use railroad ties or truck leaf-springs. Chapman heat treats and tempers items that need a sharp edge, like knives, so that they’re tough enough to withstand everyday use while maintaining sharpness.
