Shimomura Kihan Batter Dispenser

Regular price $28.95

Originally designed to pour takoyaki batter into tiny round pans, this stainless steel Japanese tool will bring precision to your morning cooking routine. The dispenser’s sturdy handle and slightly tapered spout give you complete control over the contents, so you can pour batter for crêpes, pancakes, waffles or popovers; individual portions of beaten egg for omelettes or scrambles; sauces or gravies and more. (You can even use it in a makeshift bain-marie to melt chocolate, then drizzle it exactly where you want it.) Say goodbye to awkwardly ladling of pancake batter or using a drip-prone glass measuring cup to pour muffin batter into tins. Crafted in the historic metalworking region of Tsubame-Sanjo, Japan, from durable 18-0 stainless steel, the dispenser will last years, too.

Net Weight: 8.5 ounces
Materials: 18-0 Stainless Steel
Dimensions: 9.5 inches x 6.3 inches x 4.9 inches
Volume: 37.2 fluid ounces
Place of Origin: Japan

The dispenser was designed for takoyaki, a Japanese street food made by carefully pouring a thick, wheat-based batter around cooked baby octopuses in tiny rounded cast-iron pans. That precision comes in handy for a wide variety of other uses, from crêpes and waffles to individual portions of beaten egg for personal omelettes or muffin-tin frittatas. We also like using it in a bain-marie to melt butter or chocolate, then pouring it straight from the spout. It makes a good gravy boat or serving vessel for hollandaise sauce—thanks to its 100% stainless steel construction, you can set it in a pan of simmering water to keep the contents warm.

Dishwasher-safe, but hand-wash recommended.
