This elegant, minimalist shelf from Danish design house Lawa doubles as a magnetic knife rack. It’s made from a single piece of solid oak that twists 90 degrees at the halfway mark, giving you two flat surfaces to work with: one for favorite blades and one for spices, cooking oil, knick knacks and more. Strong neodymium magnets run along the entire front of the shelf, so you can orient it with the knife rack on the right or left side. (Even the logo is magnetized, so you can flip it around to be legible from either side.) The shelf comes with its own wall plugs and installs easily in any kitchen (or foyer—the magnetic surface also makes a great key rack). Choose from three finishes: bright Natural Oak, moody gray Smoked Oak or sleek Black Oiled Oak.

The entire front of the Lawa is magnetized, so you can store most kitchen knives within reach. Use the horizontal shelf segment to keep your most-used spices and cooking oils within reach, or to display flowers and tchotchkes. The included wall plugs hold between 26.5 and 198.4 pounds, depending on the wall material. Aerated concrete is the weakest; plain concrete is the strongest.

Lawa recommends treating your shelf with oil, wax or varnish before use to protect its finish. Wipe clean with a soft cloth and gentle cleanser as needed.
