What’s the deal with MSG?

Also known as monosodium glutamate, flavor-enhancing MSG often gets a bad rap. Used across a variety of cultures and cuisines, the chemical compound is simply the sodium salt of glutamic acid, which is a naturally occurring amino acid. In other words, MSG appears naturally in a lot of foods and adds a wonderful umami boost. So next time you hear someone say, “I avoid MSG,” tell them they might be missing out.

Not sure how you’d use it?

We test everything we sell. Here’s how we’d use this.

HOW TO USE

Use as a topping (like a chili crisp) for just about anything: noodles, rice, breakfast sandwiches, eggs, salmon, potatoes, chicken wings, chicken and waffles, steak, chowder, tortellini, pasta, salads and more. Or, use the oil alone as a dressing, mixed into sauces or drizzled as a topping to bring leftovers back to life.

Kitchen Notes

Refrigerate after opening. Allow to come to room temperature once out of the fridge.
