Natsukashiya Japanese Gummies — Set of 3
Since 1901, Natsukashiya has been producing handcrafted confections in Japan with the same traditional preserving techniques. On a recent trip to Japan, our Milk Street team discovered the unassuming confectionery and some of their naturally sweet bites. Made with real fruit juice from produce grown all over Japan, each of Natsykashiya’s bite-sized jellies are tender and chewy with a crystalline crunch from the fine sugar coating. This set of three is complete with yuzu, white peach and grape flavors that are sweet—but not cloying, so the full brightness of the fresh fruit shines through. Unlike other gummies that are artificial, overly sweet and stick to your teeth, even those who don’t crave candy will reach for a second or third helping of this special treat.
Pure Indian Foods: Alphonso Mango Puree
Rarely have we seen a mango puree in supermarkets and, if we do, it’s often full of sweeteners and additives. Made from Alphonso mangoes, which are renowned in India for their natural sweetness and buttery-smooth texture, this puree contains no added sugar or preservatives—it’s just pure, juicy mango. About five fresh mangos are packed into every jar of this luscious puree and its silky texture is pourable, yet decadent like yogurt, and has a rich, bright flavor that balances sweet and tart, akin to snacking on refreshing mangoes at their peak season.
Haci Bekir Turkish Delight - Assorted Fruit Flavors
From the company that made Turkish delight famous, Haci Bekir, this Turkish delight (lokum) comes in an assortment of fruity flavors. We found these in Istanbul, and they’re the most authentic version of traditional Turkish lokum we’ve been able to get in the States. The jellies are tangy with mellow fruit flavors—the sour cherry, strawberry, apricot and orange reminded us of high-end gummy bears or jelly beans. But their pleasant sweetness isn’t overpowering, unlike American fruit candies or sugary-sweet mass-produced versions of this Turkish classic. You’ll love sinking your teeth into their chewy, supple texture.
Wally and Whiz Taste of Denmark Sampler Pack
This limited inventory sampler of some of Wally and Whiz's most popular flavors—Blackcurrant with Strawberries, Quince with Apples and Cloudberry with Blackberry—is exclusive to Milk Street in the United States. Wally and Whiz's Nordic Winegums are chewy—not sticky—candies that have a gumdrop-like texture without the granulated coating. Kristian Them Hansen started his company in order to create gummy candies with real fruit flavor, not just syrupy sweetness. We love the two-tone flavor and modern-looking cube shape of Wally and Whiz winegums, echoed by the neat boxes these sweets are packaged in.
Hotaru Foods Matcha Milk Jam
Milk jam, like dulce de leche, is a thickened mixture of dairy and sugar. This version has matcha green tea powder mixed into it for a unique and delicious twist. The luxurious and spreadable texture is paired with a slightly grassy aroma that hints at matcha’s earthiness. We love the bright, vegetal, and slightly bitter taste that finishes sweet and nutty. And the beautifully vibrant green color from the matcha doesn’t hurt either.

Koy Pantry Figs in Syrup
Tender and sweet, preserved in a warmly spiced syrup, Koy Pantry’s Figs in Syrup are unlike most other fig products on the market. Made with whole young Turkish figs, the fruit is quick-pickled, then cooked down and preserved in a glossy, pourable syrup spiked with cloves. Unlike fig jams and preserves where the fruit falls apart, Koy Pantry’s figs remain firm with a satisfying chew—so you can serve them whole on a cheese board or chop them up to add to pizza. Sweet and earthy with a slight tartness, they pair well with both strong and mild cheese and salty cured meats; can be added to desserts, cakes and crumbles or stirred into tangy yogurt. Or use just the syrup—it’s delicious drizzled on a panini, stirred into a cocktail or swirled into oatmeal.
Kolsvart Sour Blueberry Swedish Fish
Think of these punchy, flavorful sour Swedish fish from Kolsvart as a cross between familiar movie theater Swedish fish and Sour Patch kids. With a satisfying chew and bright color, a vibrant blueberry flavor is paired with a sour coating that makes your mouth pucker just the right amount. We love this perfect sweet and sour combo, especially when it tastes like fresh blueberries.
Haci Bekir Turkish Delight—Assorted Date and Nut
From the company that made Turkish delight famous, Haci Bekir, these Turkish delights (lokum) come in an assortment of date and nut flavors. We found these in Istanbul, and they’re the most authentic version of traditional Turkish lokum we’ve been able to get in the States. The confection has a pleasant sweetness from dates and sugar that doesn’t overpower—unlike some sugary-sweet, mass-produced versions of this classic Turkish treat. Sink your teeth into its chewy, supple texture—hazelnuts and pistachios add a light crunchiness and clean, simple flavor.
Shortbread House of Edinburgh Warming Stem Ginger Shortbread Biscuits
Many store brands lack the rich butteriness of true Scottish shortbread, ending up too gritty or pasty on the tongue, but these treats are truly authentic, handmade from a family recipe. Each one of these classic biscuits is richly buttery and tenderly textured with the perfect amount of crumbliness—with nubs of candied ginger sprinkled throughout that adds zip and a touch of pleasant chew. Warming ground ginger is incorporated into the dough as well, giving it an almost gingerbread-like flavor, but stays lighter and more lively without the addition of molasses. Their sweetness is balanced with a hint of salt, while the addition of ground rice gives these cookies a delightfully light and crisp texture. Dare we say, they’re better than homemade.
Shortbread House of Edinburgh Shortbread Biscuits with Rich Dark Chocolate

Each one of these classic biscuits is richly buttery and tenderly textured with the perfect amount of crumbliness—with tasty morsels of dark chocolate studded throughout. The decadent bittersweetness of the chocolate is balanced with sugar and a hint of salt, while the addition of ground rice gives these cookies a delightfully light and crisp texture. Dare we say, they’re better than homemade.
Kolsvart Raspberry & Blackcurrant Swedish Fish
The movie theater Swedish fish most Americans are familiar with get a flavorful update in these punchy candies from Kolsvart. With a satisfying chew and bright color, the raspberry and blackcurrant flavor is sweet, but not overly so, and has a mild tartness that we love, plus that iconic fun fish shape.
Il Colle Del Gusto Noccioliva Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
Il Colle del Gusto's Noccioliva smooth hazelnut spread is a lighter, glossier and more aromatic version of Nutella. With a high hazelnut content of up to 42%, it is made using local, high-quality roasted nuts from Italy, which are ground down into a silky-smooth texture. This spread makes a wonderful addition to almost any dessert—the olive oil makes it easy to incorporate into pastry cream or any custard base. We also love it for breakfast: Spread it on a crêpe as the French do, slather on toast, or top with fresh sliced fruit.
Shortbread House of Edinburgh Original Recipe Shortbread Biscuits
Many store brands lack the rich butteriness of true Scottish shortbread, ending up too gritty or pasty on the tongue, but these treats are truly authentic, handmade from a family recipe. Made entirely by hand, Shortbread House of Edinburgh’s classic crisp, velvety biscuit gets a bright boost from the pulp of Sicilian lemons (a zesty, less acidic citrus varietal) and lemon oil. The lemony shortbread is tender and just sweet enough. It reminds us of a perfect glass of lemonade—sweet and sunny, without too much tang.
