Skeppshult’s handcrafted Swedish cast-iron pan was specifically designed for eggs, but it does so much more. Its circular cooking reservoirs allow you to fry four eggs at a time without them fusing together. Or you can make individual frittatas, mini pancakes, hashes and even English muffin breakfast sandwiches—all in one pan. Whatever you’re cooking, you can trust the 5-millimeter-thick base to deliver even heat on any cooking surface; carefully applied layers of organic canola oil seasoning ensure your pan is nonstick straight out of the box. A smooth, solid walnut handle and convenient helper lip are the sort of thoughtful finish touches you’d expect from Skeppshult, a storied Swedish brand that’s been making heirloom cast iron since 1906.

Frying eggs in the Skeppshult is simple: Just heat it up on your stove, add a little butter or oil to each indentation and crack in your eggs. When they’re ready to flip (or serve sunny-side up), slide a thin spatula under the egg to lift it out; the pan is pre-seasoned, so nothing will stick. This pan is great for batch cooking too: Use it to cook each part of a ham, egg and cheese sandwich simultaneously, or create personal-sized omelets and potato rösti for brunch at home. You could even use this pan to cook burgers—the round indentations help the patties keep their shape.

Avoid using metal utensils and cutting directly in the pan, which can damage the surface. To clean, scrub with a bristle brush and warm water while the pan is still hot. To season, heat the pan on the stove over medium-high heat, then wipe with a thin layer of canola or other neutral oil; continue heating the pan until it stops smoking, about 10–15 minutes. Store your pan in a dry area, as moisture accumulation can cause it to rust.
