Soma Hand-Forged Slotted Spatula

Regular price $80.00

Christopher Kimball found this Hand-Forged Slotted Spatula while traveling in Maine. Made from stainless steel and accented with copper rivets, it’s strong enough to cook with and handsome enough to serve with. The open slots allow grease to drain easily while frying, and the design is flexible enough to bend under burgers, tender fish or stacks of pancakes. It’s ideal for use with cast-iron pans—tough enough to scrape stuck-on bits while still nimble enough to slide under delicate foods. The spatula head tapers near the edge for easy flipping and turning. Handcrafted by a skilled blacksmith trained in traditional metalworking, this spatula is built to last.

Net Weight: 6.2oz
Materials: Stainless Steel, Copper
Dimensions: 14" end to end, spatula area is approximately 4" x 4.5"
Place of Origin: Maine, USA

In his forge, which runs at 1,900°F, Kiran Chapman, founder of Soma Metalwork, shape metals like steel, iron, brass and copper into home and kitchen goods. While some items start as raw materials, shaped from bars of rolled steel, Chapman also gives life to recycled metals from out-of-use railroad ties or truck leaf-springs. Chapman heat treats and tempers items that need a sharp edge, like knives, so that they’re tough enough to withstand everyday use while maintaining sharpness.
