Crisp, delicate cinnamon wafer cookies packed in a Christmas tin that’s both a fully functional carousel and a music box—how fun is that? The cookies, called barquillos in Spain, are light, crisp and cinnamon-y. And this isn’t a treat you can get just anywhere: La Dulcería is among the few companies that still produce barquillos, and we are the first American retailer to offer them. Barquillo literally means “little boat,” which refers to the boat-like molds originally used to make the wafers. Bakers roll each wafer into the classic tubular shape using a series of 15 molds. They then pack the cookies into a Christmas tree-topped carousel tin adorned with Santa and his reindeer flying over a snowy village; the carousel plays “Jingle Bells” as it spins. For more holiday magic, place the included LED light inside the empty tin to illuminate the miniature village windows. This transforms the carousel into a glowing holiday centerpiece you’ll use for years.
