This sleek, plug-and-play range from Copper brings the pleasure of induction cooking to any kitchen—no expensive rewiring projects required. It pairs a standard 120V/15A plug with a large-capacity battery that stores renewable energy when available, so you’ll always have the power you need to cook, even during outages. (The battery also makes this range mindful of its power usage; great news for your electric bill.) In fact, Charlie is the only battery-powered full induction range (cooktop and oven) on the market; other models require a 240V outlet, and the necessary upgrades to accommodate one can cost thousands of dollars in electrical work.

But Charlie’s not just an energy-efficient appliance; it’s a serious range for serious cooking, with all the features that make induction so much fun to use. If you’re used to a sluggish electric stovetop or gas oven, you’ll be thrilled at Charlie’s speed: The cooktop can boil a big pot of water in 4–5 minutes and the oven goes from cold to 400°F or hotter in about the same time. Speaking of the oven, it boasts a broiler, a convection fan and a temperature range of 80°F through 550°F. We don’t know of another oven that can proof pizza dough and bake it up with Naples-caliber bubble and char. The cooktop offers the precision and responsiveness you’d expect from induction, with four symmetrical cooking zones that 1) accommodate pans of all sizes and 2) have 22 heat settings each, so you can dial in the exact right temperature. Plus, you won’t have to fiddle with the awkward touchscreen controls most other models use. Instead, Copper opted for beautiful wood knobs with copper inlays, which make temperature adjustments easy, intuitive and near-instant. (Even faster than gas.)
