Handcrafted by Victor of family-owned Cerámica Arrayanes in Granada, Spain, this ceramic plate set embodies the tradition of Fajalauza pottery. The Andalusian plates feature hand-painted black motifs—including a bird and a pomegranate—set against a beige glaze. Each dish is one of a kind due to its handmade nature. We use them for hosting special occasion meals and elevating weeknight table settings. Sold in a set of four.
What’s Fajalauza? Also known as “Barro Granadina,” this Spanish pottery technique is renowned for symbolic motifs, vibrant colors and signature geometric patterns inspired by examples of Moorish architecture, such as Granada’s Alhambra. It dates back to the 12th-century Nazrid Dynasty, the last Muslim dynasty in the Iberian Peninsula before Sultan Muhammad XII surrendered his lands to Isabella I of Castile.
