Safi is the pottery capital of Morocco.
Turn over any piece of handmade Moroccan ceramics and it’s likely it will be signed with the name of this coastal fishing town. Recognizable for their colorful palettes and intricate designs, most of Safi’s ceramics is produced by hand in the atmospheric potter’s quarter, which houses rows of artisans’ workshops. This part of the city has existed for centuries and is home to the oldest pottery kilns in Morocco.
