triangle Tools Cheese Grater
This cheese grater comes from triangle Tools’ Soul line, a series of high-quality kitchen tools developed for design lovers and gourmands alike. The grater comes with super-sharp teeth designed with a photo-etching process, a method that involves using photosensitive film and an acid bath to precisely dissolve a stainless steel sheet to produce the teeth, which behave like knives rather than simply ripping up food. The grater’s handle is made from smooth cherry, plum or walnut wood sourced from local orchards and forests; the handles are carved in nearby Sauerland before being fitted with the stainless steel grate in Solingen—a region of Germany famous for knives, kitchen tools and flatware—with renewably sourced electricity. This grater comes in a reusable gift box, ideal for last-minute gifting or (spoiling the chef in your life).
triangle Tools Oyster Knife
Pry open oysters like a pro with this stainless steel oyster knife from triangle Tools. This professional-grade knife beat out our prior favorite—its solid blade and ergonomic handle makes opening oysters easy, fast and safe. Both the blade and handle are crafted from a single piece of steel, for extra sturdiness; the slim, hand-sharpened blade is slanted slightly to one side, which makes it easier to slip into tight oyster hinges. We tried this on oysters of all different shapes and sizes; it worked seamlessly across the board, effortlessly opening small, large and delicate, breakable shells.

Milk Street Saya Knife Guard - Kitchin-To
This is the ideal companion piece to our all-purpose Kitchin-to™ knife. Japanese kitchen knives are traditionally stored in wooden scabbards called sayas, which protect the blade—and your fingertips—from damage in a crowded drawer. We partnered with our knifemaker for a custom ash wood saya for our broad-bladed Kitchin-to™ knife, which is too large to fit most knife blocks. The sturdy, durable and beautifully grained wood guard perfectly fits the blade (simply sliding on) and attaches securely via a simple wooden pin. The wood also helps wick away any moisture clinging to the blade, which prevents oxidation or rust.

There’s nothing more unsettling than your cutting board sliding around while you chop or watching your stand mixer wobble across the countertop while kneading elastic bread dough. That’s why we developed this dishwasher-safe, heatproof and nonslip cutting mat to keep things stable, safe and secure. It’s large enough to accommodate a full-sized cutting board, but can also be cut to size for more specialized shapes. Unlike flimsy, thin foam mats, wet paper towels or dishtowels, this cutting mat actually locks tools into place, thanks to its grippy, heatproof and dishwasher-safe silicone construction. It’ll keep things where you need them.
